Chief selector Muhammad Wasim announced the test team at a press conference in Lahore on Monday.
As part of the ICC Test World Cup, the series of Tests between Pakistan and England will start with the first match in Rawalpindi on 1 December 2022, followed by the second Test in Multan on 9-13 December and the third in Karachi on 17 December-21.
The injured Shaheen Shah Afridi has been left out of the Pakistan squad while pace setter Haris Rauf has been added to the squad.
Likewise, mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed and fast bowler Muhammad Ali were awarded first Test calls for their strong first-class performances.
Abrar, 24, is in top form in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Before the final started on 20 November, he had 43 wickets at an average of 21.95.
Abrar Ahmed registered five goals for five goals in six games and was instrumental in his team making serious contenders for a place in the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.
Muhammad Ali has been the top fast bowler in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy over the last two editions, winning 56 wickets. His 24 wickets, including two five-wicket catches for 25.54 over six games, were the most of any fast bowler this major season. His 32 wickets at 22.78 in eight games in 2021-22 is also the most by a fast bowler.
